βοΈ π The ICQIA urges Canada to champion quantum technologies during its 2025 G7 Presidency
On October 11, 2024, Quantum Industry Canada's CEO Lisa Lambert submitted a letter to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on behalf of the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) urging the prioritization of quantum technologies during Canadaβs G7 Presidency in 2025 β which coincides with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
This letter, signed by leaders of the four founding ICQIA consortiums (QIC, QED-C, Q-STAR, and QuIC), represents nearly 600 stakeholders across the G7 nations, the European Union, and beyond.
It highlights the unique opportunity for Canada to drive global dialogue and action in this critical sector, underscoring the potential of quantum technologies to address key economic, security, and societal challenges facing G7 nations and the world at large.
Earlier this month, a Canadian quantum technology delegation visited the Greater Tokyo Area in Japan. Participating organizations included Anyon Systems, ISARA, Quantum Bridge, Quantum Valley Ideas Lab, Xanadu, Zero Point Cryogenics,Pasqal, and QIC.
The week was packed with opportunities to get better acquainted with Japanβs vibrant quantum scene, connect with colleagues, and explore co-innovation opportunities. β π Some highlights included:
The Canada-Japan Quantum Technology Partnership Seminar hosted by Canada's Trade Commissioner Service and the Deloitte Tohmatsu Groupβ
The Quantum Innovation 2024 International Symposiumβ
Visits to the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology (AIST)
Many one-on-one meetings between Canadian and Japanese organizations
Working sessions with colleagues on the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA)
Special thanks to our Japanese colleagues for the warm hospitality and to the Government of Canada for their support in facilitating a productive mission.
This global initiative aims to raise public awareness about the growing importance and expanding applications of quantum science and technologies through events and educational activities.
As we embrace this partnership, we invite you to join us in celebrating and showcasing Canada's quantum strengths and opportunities throughout 2025.
How to get involved?
In addition to supporting QIC's IYQ campaign (we'll be sharing more about this soon, including details about how to get involved with our QUANTUM NOW executive forum), we invite you to consider if direct partnership opportunities with IYQ might be a fit for your organization for additional international exposure.
