🌍 Quantum moves to the main stage of global strategy — and Canada is helping lead the way 🇨🇦This morning, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's office announced the official priorities of the 2025 G7 Presidency ahead of the Leaders’ Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta — and quantum is among them. This is a powerful signal that quantum is now recognized as a strategic technology platform by the world’s most influential economies. This is a pivotal step for Canada and for the global quantum economy — affirming quantum’s role not just in scientific advancement, but as a driver of economic growth, national security, and the digital transition worldwide. 🇨🇦 As one of the first countries to recognize the promise of quantum, Canada has built world-class capabilities across research, talent, and industry. Now, we have a generational opportunity to translate that leadership into long-term advantage. On behalf of our community, Quantum Industry Canada (QIC) is proud to have played a role in helping catalyze this step. In October 2024, we led a joint letter with our partners at the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) urging Canada to prioritize quantum at the G7. We’ve continued to champion this priority ever since — and we’re pleased to see it reflected in the agenda guiding Canada's G7 Presidency. We are especially grateful to the many individuals across the Government of Canada who took the time to understand the strategic significance of quantum and worked to bring it forward to the highest levels. We also recognize the ongoing contributions of our community, partners, and collaborators across Canada and around the world. The advancement of this transformational sector depends on strong public-private partnership, and this kind of alignment reflects what’s possible when we work together with clarity, commitment, and common purpose.
